| The Professional Renewal Center® offers a Day Treatment program for professionals who are
seeking to make major changes in their life. Our program
operates Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm. A large part of the program is offered in a group therapy setting. Clients attend six groups a day that systematically address the multiple levels of functioning within their personal and professional lives. We
specialize in working with individuals who are struggling
with disruptive behavior, professional sexual misconduct,
mood and anxiety disorders, and substance and behavioral
addictions. We also work with professionals who have
trouble controlling their impulses or have been referred
for treatment on the basis of their “personality
type.” Our wide range of experience and expertise
allows us to work with, address, and resolve a variety
of complex problems through the use of sophisticated,
multimodal treatment approaches. We have observed in
our work with professionals that a lack of understanding
and appreciation for the processes, forces, and events
that shape personal and organizational functioning often
results in disruption and trouble of one sort or another.
In knowing this, we apply an individualized treatment
algorithm the goal of which is to foster an internalized
and conscious set of skills and concepts that improve
individual function on all levels (biological, psychological,
interpersonal, and professional).The
treatments methods we employ are empirically validated
(e.g., cognitive-behavioral and psychodynamic therapies,
pharmacological interventions, EMDR, biological and
neurological (Alpha-Theta) feedback, psycho-educatonal
training) and socially validated (“tried and true”)
means of finding and sustaining health and vitality
(e.g., working a recovery program and spiritual renewal). . Within the context of a thought-provoking
and supportive environment, clients confront behaviors
and ways of thinking that stem from and contribute to
problems with self-regulation. We help professionals
identify and explore: 1) the physical and somatic basis
of stress and dysregulation; 2) distorted thought patterns
and psychological defenses; 3) conflicted and disavowed
emotions; 4) problematic role and relationship patterns
and processes; 5) the dilemmas inherent in a professional
lifestyle and environment; and 5) a process of change.
We encourage people to commit themselves to an ongoing
process of compassionate reflecton upon themselves and
their peers in the pursuit of insight and resolution
of their difficulties.
