Vision
The vision for this course is to give physicians and other healthcare team members the opportunity to learn new behavioral and communication skills to enable them to function in an increasingly complex medical environment. The activity focuses on developing skills in the core competency areas of professionalism, system based practice, and interpersonal and communication.
Learning Objectives
Upon the completion of the program, the
participant should be able to:
1. Utilize behaviors and communication techniques that promote good interpersonal and communication skills between patients and providers, thus facilitating delivery of patient-centered care.
2. Utilize behaviors and communication techniques that promote good interprofessional communication, thus facilitating patient safety and quality patient care.
3. Initiate appropriate interpersonal and communication techniques such as SBAR during handoffs and interprofessional communications maximizing safety and patient outcomes.
4. Identify and utilize relapse prevention strategies to minimize the reoccurrence of poor inter-professional communication.
